The base rental rate is only part of what you’ll actually pay. Delivery, fuel, a damage waiver, and attachments routinely add 30–60% on top of the quoted rate. This calculator walks you through each cost line so there are no surprises when the invoice arrives.

How to Use This Calculator

Work through the 5 steps below. Fill in your numbers to get a realistic monthly estimate before calling a dealer.

Step 1: Base Rental Rate

Start with the equipment type and duration you need. Use current market rates or quotes from local dealers.

Step 2: Delivery and Pickup

Most dealers charge for both directions. Calculate round-trip cost and divide by rental months for a per-month figure.

On rentals over 3 months, ask dealers to bundle delivery into the contract rate. Many will absorb it for a committed term.

Step 3: Fuel Cost

This is the most underestimated line item — especially for propane.

• Electric: ~$2–$3 per shift; ~$40–$60/month for one-shift operation. Negligible.
• LPG/Propane: One 33 lb tank lasts ~8 hours and costs $25–$45. One-shift operation (22 days): ~$550–$990/month. Two shifts: ~$1,100–$1,980/month.
• Diesel: ~1–1.5 gal/hour at $3.75/gal. 8-hour shift × 22 days: ~$660–$990/month.

Step 4: Damage Waiver (Optional but Recommended)

The damage waiver covers accidental damage during the rental period. It does NOT cover intentional misuse, overloading, or theft.

• Cost: 10–15% of monthly base rate (e.g., $1,200 × 12% = $144/month)
• Without it: a single mast repair runs $3,000–$8,000; a tire replacement is $800–$2,000

Always take the damage waiver on rentals of 1 month or longer.
